With his new breed of boutique hotels, local entrepreneur Klaus Dissertori is attracting creative guests from all over the world and has put the small South Tyrolean village of Lana on their radar.
Klaus Dissertori is a rather quiet yet thoughtful person. He is not the kind of guy who wants to turn his homeland of South Tyrol into the new Ibiza. The question he asked himself while studying tourism management in Munich and Madrid was: “What do I want to experience as a guest when I travel to a region that is foreign to me?” His answer is a blueprint of the Pretty Hotels’ philosophy: you want to experience the region as authentic as it can be. Dissertori says: “I myself prefer to stay in a house that represents the country with its architecture, interior and food.”
In the last four years, Dissertori has created a beautiful hotel collection with three different properties in his hometown of Lana (located between Bolzano and Merano): The Hotel Schwarzschmied, where he himself grew up and which he took over from his parents. The 1477 Reichhalter Eat & Sleep with an excellent cuisine and stylish rooms in a former abandoned building in the center of Lana. And Villa Arnica, a sophisticated residence with 10 rooms and a great nostalgic vintage vibe.
The Dissertoris (Klaus’ brother Moritz has recently joined the team) called the collection „Alto Hotels“, in reference to the Italian translation of South Tyrol – Alto Adige. Most importantly: All three hotels have nothing in common with a typical package tourist hotel. The cuisine is very regional, the architecture simple and made of local materials and the design was developed by creative people from the area.
Now all you have to do is choose the perfect one for you. Let us help you with that …
With 68 rooms and suites, the Schwarzschmied is the largest property in the Dissertori hotel family. It is beautifully situated on a vineyard slope with a view of the village church. Only the façade dates back to the time when Dissertori’s parents ran the house. All other parts were renovated sensitively and smartly by the brothers. Enjoy lots of glass and wood, plus a gorgeous terrace for late breakfasts and long dinners. We especially like the energy in this house, it’s spacious and you can also go for a swim in the indoor pool after a hike. Highly recommended: The slow food cuisine at the in-house restaurant La Fucina.
At the Schwarzschmied, a healthy lifestyle has been cultivated for many years. This means that guests are encouraged to go on guided hikes in nature and, above all, to take part in the many yoga classes. There are also many yoga retreats held here throughout the year.
Couples, families with children who already know how to swim and also single travelers who want to take part in one of the many yoga retreats.

If the more bustling historic district of Lana is your preferred destination, then the 1477 Reichhalter is the place to stay. The old building went under the knife in 2018 and when Klaus Dissertori finished surgery, the result was nothing short of spectacular: Eight beautifully renovated “old-style” rooms plus a magnificent restaurant (think of star-level cuisine, but with a very regional casual touch). In the summer and fall you can sit outside for lunch and dinner and indulge in the creations of chef Andreas Heinisch. He previously cooked up a storm in the trendy restaurant Miil in the neighborhood.
Doubles from 198 Euros per room.

An ongoing love affair between guests and hotel since its inception! Because it has everything you could wish for: beautifully furnished rooms in a large, old villa. A lounge on the first floor, with a library, a bar and lots of great charm. A never ending garden with a view of the mountains. A pool with a pool house, where on sunny days not only breakfast is served, but also light lunches and aperitifs. There is a reason why many guests stay in during the day. Just too comfy all around to leave the premises.
Villa Arnica is an adult’s only place. No kids.
Doubles from 320 Euros per night for two – including breakfast by the pool.
