The small village of Langfeld is located in Gelting Bay, a region well known to many Germans from the north. For those unfamiliar with it: the area lies around 1 hour and 40 minutes north of Hamburg by car. Here, a family from Hamburg has created a peaceful retreat with great care, investment and attention to detail. A place that is now also open to guests.
Ostseehof Langfeld consists of ten holiday homes, each rented individually – although the entire estate can also be booked as a whole. At its heart is a historic four-sided farmstead with timber-framed houses dating back to the 18th century. What you will find here above all is complete tranquillity, unspoilt nature and an exceptional sense of space.

Speaking of space: the estate sits on a gentle hill, surrounded by meadows and rapeseed fields, just a three-minute bike ride from the Baltic Sea. The nearby beach remains wonderfully untouched, with a small lighthouse and a cycling path along the coast. What you will not find here is mass tourism, ice cream parlours or crowded beach bars.
Just around the corner from Ostseehof Langfeld, Johanna — the host — has also created another holiday home for families called Elstohl, which is equally charming.
What stayed with us most after our visit was the atmosphere of the houses themselves. Each one has a timeless, old-world character, furnished with great authenticity and quality. Beautiful antiques can be found throughout, yet everything feels warm and comfortable rather than formal. Families will find all the practical things they would normally have at home – especially those used to travelling well equipped. Johanna herself has four children and clearly knows what families need.
The main house, for example, offers 280 square metres of living space, with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, accommodating up to ten guests. The impressive Westerscheune is suitable for up to twelve people, with four single beds and four double beds. It also offers 280 square metres, though the high ceilings in the ground-floor living areas and kitchen/dining room make it feel even more spacious.
The Backhaus, also part of the farmstead, has a small bedroom on the ground floor and sleeping space for two more guests under the roof. The kitchen, living and dining areas are arranged around an old baking oven, creating a particularly cosy atmosphere.
Johanna also rents out the Caecilienhof, located around 100 metres further southwest on the estate. This white house is another small gem, offering six bedrooms and space for up to fourteen guests across 280 square metres of living space. There is also an old workshop building, as well as a smaller cabin-style room for guests needing less space.
Ideal for
Families with children looking for a peaceful and relaxed week by the Baltic Sea. The estate is also well suited to larger groups, with the central courtyard offering plenty of room to gather, weddings have even been held here.
Wellness
There is also a sauna with a relaxation room in a separate building, which can even be used for private celebrations or small events.
