Let’s walk straight into the Hussnhof, about 40 minutes south of Munich near the town of Bad Tölz. The moment the host family greets you, you step into life on a farm – a real farm, one has to say these days. In front of the old stable, a cat rubs against your legs, the kids race straight to a huge playground with a trampoline and a zip line, and in a meadow with a view of the mountains, alpacas graze and say hello.

The vacation house is part of the farm and has three very large, wonderfully furnished apartments that are not only spacious but also fitted out to a five-star standard. (There are actually four, but one, Reutberg, doesn’t quite match the design standard of the others.)
The three beautiful ones are called Hochsitz, Wallberg and Bergwiese. Only the finest materials have been used: granite bathrooms, a private sauna, kitchens with everything you need and super-comfortable bedrooms. The highlight of the ground-floor Bergwiese apartment is a hot tub heated with wood from the Hussnhof’s own forest – all with a view of the mountains.
95 square meters, with room for two adults and two children: a bedroom in the attic with a large bathtub, a children’s room with bunk beds, a bathroom and a living and dining area.
Bergwiese is on the ground floor and sleeps up to five, with two bedrooms, a large bathroom, a spacious living area with mountain views, a sauna, an outdoor hot tub and a private terrace with loungers.
Wallberg, on the upper floor, has 100 square meters and two bedrooms, plus an optional bunk bed, and sleeps up to five. It has a bathroom, a sauna, a kitchen and a living and dining area.
Surroundings
Speaking of mountains: the farm itself isn’t quite in them, but you can see them from the terrace and balcony. The Brauneck ski area in Lenggries, with very child-friendly runs and ski schools, is only about 20 minutes away by car. The better-known ski resort of Garmisch is about 40 minutes away, and Lake Tegernsee and the Wallberg are 25 minutes away.
And the very traditional Bavarian town of Bad Tölz is just around the corner.
Culinary
For breakfast, you can order a bread-roll service, with fresh rolls delivered to your apartment. We also highly recommend booking the welcome basket in advance: it is full of Bavarian delicacies and well worth the money.
Ideal For
Families looking for a quiet place to relax. There are wonderful excursions to make from here, summer or winter, and on the farm itself the really huge playground is a big plus (for the children, and therefore for the parents).
Prices
Apartments start at about 345 euros per night. In high season, for example, Bergwiese costs 420 euros a night for two adults, Wallberg 370 euros and Hochsitz 400 euros. All prices are listed here.
