After a positive experience with the small group of Pulitzer Hotels in Paris, we decided to add the Barcelona location to the Pretty Hôtels selection as well. With its 91 rooms, the hotel offers a convincing mix of quality and atmosphere. That’s due in part to its location – right in the middle of the city, just north of El Born and south of the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes – and to its carefully considered design.
Anyone familiar with Barcelona knows, that finding the right hotel here can be tricky. Many places are either expensive, feel a bit outdated, or have interiors that take some getting used to. That’s not the case at the Pulitzer. The entire space was designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, a well-known name in the design world. Among other projects, he created the bar and restaurant Rocco in Lisbon’s Ivens Hotel – a bold statement in contemporary hospitality design.
The rooms
All 91 rooms are defined by a sense of cleanliness and warmth. The standard double rooms are compact but comfortable. The standouts, though, are the Signature Balcony Rooms with balconies and views over the city. And the highlights? The suites. The Pulitzer Suite, for instance, is a 45 square meters design sanctuary and includes a private terrace with greenery and an open-air shower.
There’s also the option to connect three single rooms to form a private unit with a large shared terrace and lounge area – ideal for a small group to start the evening together.

Kulinarik
On the ground floor, the Greenhouse Restaurant serves as the hotel’s central dining space and also hosts breakfast. It’s a large, light-filled room, with a lot of plants, wooden tables, and colorful chairs. Guests can help themselves to a generous buffet in the morning, and there’s also a menu with warm breakfast dishes.
From 12:00 to 15:00, lunch is served either in the Greenhouse or outside in El Fresco, the hotel’s garden courtyard. It’s a quiet spot in the middle of the city. The kitchen focuses on slow food, using fresh and local ingredients. What’s cooking? Monkfish in a prawn stew, grilled sea bass with pil-pil sauce, pork tataki with chimichurri, and beef tartare with pickled vegetables.
The Bar
Up on the roof, the Pulitzer offers a relaxed setting for drinks and tapas with a view over the city – especially atmospheric at sunset. The rooftop terrace, called La Terraza, also hosts more than 100 live concerts each year, featuring DJs, bands, and other performers.

Meetings
The hotel’s biblioteca space is a versatile venue used for private events hosted by local creatives. Like the rest of the hotel, it was designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violán and provides a stylish setting for presentations or informal gatherings.
Price
Doubles from 250 euros per night. The suite costs 450 euros per night – including breakfast.
