Granted, St. Ives, on the north coast of Cornwall, is one of Britain’s most beautiful seaside towns. And although it is a magnet for tourists in summer, the magic of this small, remote artists’ colony has survived. Picture charming little houses mingling with galleries and small shops, all with vintage British signage, and you have the perfect setting for a romantic vacation.
And amid all this beauty, we found Trevose Harbour House.
This little gem is a stone’s throw from the beach and right in the middle of the action: a white house with six beautiful guest rooms. For the hosts, Angela and Olivier, it was a dream come true. In 2011, after many years in the hotel industry, they were house-hunting in various places, Angela says, but this one was too beautiful to pass up: “We fell in love immediately.” They bought it and, after 18 months of extensive renovation, opened their B&B in 2013.
After staying at Trevose Harbour House, there can be only one verdict: these two, with their long experience in five-star hotels, know exactly how to please discerning guests.

Guests rightly shower the place with praise. Beautifully designed, spotless rooms, the waterfront location and, above all, two hosts who look after their guests like friends make for a very convincing package.
And since Olivier makes a sensational breakfast, your day at Trevose Harbour House couldn’t get off to a better start.
The Rooms
There are only six guest rooms, each one unique, with bright, renovated bathrooms, spread over three floors. Up in the attic there is even a suite, fittingly called the Rooftop Suite.
Ideal For
Couples seeking romance in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. Please note: given the setting and atmosphere, children are welcome only from age 12.
Cool Addition
Want something a little more private? Angela and Olivier also rent out two apartments in town, beautifully decorated, a little more spacious and each with its own kitchen. Just ask for Sands Studio or Samphire Studio when you book.

Surroundings
St. Ives sits on a headland almost like an island, so guests can choose among several beaches; those facing the open sea are ideal for surfers. St. Ives is also known for its art galleries, the most famous being Tate St Ives, opened in 1993 by Charles, then Prince of Wales. Alongside local art, it shows works by prominent modern artists. For authentic local dining, just ask your hosts; they will point you in the right direction. Bottom line? We highly recommend staying as long as you can.
Prices
Doubles from 170 pounds for two, including breakfast.
