Meem Townhouse Sóller / Majorca

Meem Townhouse

Jessica and Albert used to run restaurants in Barcelona. But a few years ago, the Catalan capital became too crowded and hectic for them, so they sold everything and moved with their young children to Majorca, to Sóller, a charming little town in the heart of the Tramuntana mountains. This is where you can still find the island’s authentic side: narrow lanes, traditional Majorcan stone houses and a beautiful central square lined with restaurants and bars.

About 90 steps from that square, the couple opened Meem Townhouse in 2022: a boutique bed-and-breakfast with seven gorgeous suites, each more beautiful than the last.

Here is how your arrival will most likely unfold: you pass through a large, heavy glass door into a high-ceilinged room with a stone floor and a few inviting lounge chairs. Just beyond are a couple of tables and a terrace, where, when we arrived, a guest was nursing a glass of chilled white wine. You know right away that this place will not disappoint.

We meet Jessica, who designed the interiors together with the architects of Al Cuadrado Arquitectura from Palma. She has a real feel for space and design, and within Meem’s walls you feel completely at ease; nothing disturbs the eye or the calm. Meem offers a retreat from the Majorca you thought you knew.

Natural colors (gray, sand and a touch of brown) dominate the whole house. In the suites, everything flows: no door separates bathroom from bedroom, and the bathtubs, walk-in showers and fixtures all look as if they were cast in one piece.

Ideal for

Couples looking for a “living room” in Majorca’s most beautiful landscape, the Serra de Tramuntana.

The Surroundings

Sóller is still a genuinely authentic town. The bars and restaurants fill up with tourists in summer, but you still feel as if you are in Spain; the food and the whole atmosphere are truly Majorcan.

Many guests also visit the nearby villages of Valldemossa, Fornalutx and Deià, and the rugged coves along this stretch of coast, some still blissfully free of crowds. A little farther southwest is the village of Banyalbufar, which we are also very fond of.

Combine with

We recommend combining four days at Meem Townhouse with five days at Es Raco de Artà in the north. Both make the perfect base for a relaxed and, above all, stylish Majorca vacation.
