The Bader Hotel’s location needs some explaining, or you won’t know what we are talking about. It sits in a business park in Parsdorf, east of Munich: next door is a hardware store, behind it the autobahn, and the center of Munich is a 30-minute drive away. Building a hotel furnished with Scandinavian design right here is a story – and an achievement – in itself. But because it is genuinely lovely and you feel at home very quickly, it easily qualifies as a Pretty Hôtel, and we recommend it without hesitation.
The Boss
The hotel is the brainchild of local resident Monika Hobmeier. It is very much her own project, and you can feel it throughout: she looks after her guests and her business personally. Monika loves nature and art, coffee-table books, sunshine, vacations in Sweden, happy people and beautiful, simple design. In other words, the Bader is probably the most personal business hotel in the world.
The Philosophy
Speaking of business: guests who check in at the Bader expecting a business hotel shouldn’t be disappointed to be treated less like business travelers and more like passengers in a very cool business class.
The Rooms
The rooms are fully paneled in wood and really cozy, as if you were on an island off southern Sweden. And the bathrooms have no bog-standard showers, but real granite blocks.

The Cuisine
The bar and lounge are furnished in a way that makes you want to linger over a drink. In the morning, there is a large breakfast buffet with homemade and regional products. In the evening, guests can dine at the hotel’s restaurant, Kaspar. The nice thing: you feel at home right away and can enjoy local dishes, a Wiener schnitzel or tapas.
The Place
Parsdorf has two more advantages. First, the Messe München trade fair grounds are only about seven minutes away by car. Second, the hotel is right on the autobahn heading south. If you land at Munich Airport late in the evening and need a place to stay, the Bader is the perfect choice before heading into the Alps the next day.
Meet & Greet
The Bader naturally also has attractive meeting rooms, and the bar and café can be booked for presentations. So department heads who have to walk their teams through the CEO’s new business plan can do it here in a relaxed atmosphere – with snacks, drinks and, of course, a bed for the night.
Prices
Doubles from about 120 euros, including breakfast.
